It was yet another wonderful day on the 2nd of December 2017 with Hope Church Brisbane hosting its annual Christmas 4 Kids outdoor community event at Unidus Community Centre. Utilising the Pavilion and Kitchen, volunteers cooked up a sausage sizzle, baked gourmet cupcakes and cold drinks.

Activities were placed at the western verandah, small field, multi-purpose court and large walkways for the outdoor stage (audio equipment provided by White Horse Audio). Although weather forecasts pointed to a rainy day, the sky held up with some cloud cover about, but making a wondering event overall for all the kids, parents, and volunteers.

Over 500 young children attended the event with a free gift on entry plus free lunch! This year was much bigger – literally – with a rock climbing wall the standout most popular activity. Even more activities like face painting, jumping castle, tug-o-war, fishing and boat racing. Kids were encouraged to collect stamps to win even more prizes!

Also lending a hand were Anglicare, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Police service to showcase their community care as well.

It was a delight to see this event grow year upon year as one of the signature events in the local community. Unidus Community Centre would like to thank all the volunteers, vendors and donations that made this event so successful:

Also a special thanks to Toli Mahina and Mamana Academy of Tongan Arts and Culture for their presentations and dances.
